We spoke to Jonathon about his career journey, what drives him and what makes Eurest different.
How did your career journey lead you here?
I’ve been with Eurest for two years starting as a Unit Manager before moving into my current role as Key Accounts Manager.
What brought you to Eurest Australia?
My background is quite varied. I started out self-employed, running a corporate cleaning business for six years. From there, I moved into wholesale coffee roasting.
When COVID hit, it gave me the opportunity to rethink my path and focus on building a long-term career. I spent two years working in the hospitality industry before joining Compass Group, which led me to Eurest!
What does a typical day look like for you?
I usually start early, heading into the CBD to spend time on-site with one of our Victorian locations. From there, I connect with teams across my other sites, which span six additional locations in five different cities.
A big part of my day is working across functions, whether that’s supporting client requests or collaborating with commercial, HR, recruitment, safety and scheduling teams to keep everything running smoothly.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The flexibility and autonomy.
Having run my own businesses, it’s important for me to be able to manage my own workload. Eurest provides that independence, while still offering the support of a larger organisation.
What makes Eurest different?
Agility. The business operates with the pace and mindset of a smaller organisation, which really suits my background. There is always change, growth and opportunity, and decisions can be made and implemented quickly.
At the same time, there is strong support behind the scenes, which allows teams to deliver consistently across sites.
What’s a moment you are most proud of?
Being promoted from managing a single site to overseeing an eight-site national portfolio within my first ten months.
That progression reflects both the opportunities available within the business and the trust placed in people to grow quickly.
